Fabiana and German: Follow Our Trail

Fabiana and German are two wanderlust souls and outdoor enthusiasts wandering around collecting moments with their camera. Always on the search for new experiences. They were born and raised in Venezuela, a country surrounded with many beautiful places, and breathtaking natural resources, which awakened their interest for the great outdoors. Living for the past 3 years in Florida, they realized that there is much more to see and enjoy in this beautiful country beyond South Beach. They started their adventures camping in Florida’s hidden jewels (the springs) and since then their love and interest for the outdoors became bigger and bigger. They have always loved hiking and exploring new places, but this past year it has become their passion. They hope sharing their love for the outdoors will inspire and motivate others to get out and explore.

We just love your adventures from your account, Follow Our Trail. What inspired you to share your adventures? What are your goals by telling your stories and sharing your photographs?

In 2016, we embarked in the greatest adventure we’ve had so far. A road trip through the Southwest. It was an incredibly challenging and humbling experience. The excitement and adrenaline that we experience for each new destination and adventure comes through in our photographs. Follow our Trail was created with the purpose of motivating people to step out the door and explore this beautiful world, hoping that they feel the same excitement as we do when they are outdoors connecting with nature.

Where do you currently live? What are some of your favorite local spots for adventure?

We are currently living in Florida, and as appealing as the sandy coastline may be, there’s more to the state than the view from a beach towel. It is tough to say what is our favorite spot since Florida is so diverse, but when we have a chance to take a break from the 9-5 we love going to the Florida Springs. These 72-degree crystal-clear natural wonders are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, scuba and cave diving. If you happen to be in Florida take a chance to visit these hidden jewels. You’ll feel like you are floating in heaven.

What are some of your favorite hiking spots from your travels?

It is hard to have a favorite hike, since all of the trails we have done are so unique and different. But so far the hikes we’ve liked the most are Angels Landing and The Narrows in Zion National Park, Upper Yosemite Falls in Yosemite National Park, and Bright Angels Trail in Grand Canyon National Park.

How did you get into hiking? What is it about hiking that sparks your passion for the activity?

Why hiking? In our opinion, hiking is the best way to take advantage of the benefits that nature has to offer, and the best way to enjoy the outdoors. We hike for the sake of overcoming a challenge and enjoying some quality time with nature. John Muir was right when he said, “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” You never know what you will encounter on each trail. Each and every one of them is different and unique in their own way.

What other outdoor adventures/activities do you participate in?

We like to get away from routine and finding new places in Florida to camp and explore like the state parks. We also enjoy paddle boarding, going to mountain bike trails, kayaking, wake boarding and snorkeling.

Yeaaap lots of water activities right?. We are from Florida that is what we do here (haha).

What are some of the most memorable stories from your adventures?

The most memorable story from our adventures is the time when we hiked Angels Landing. We visited Zion National Park in July of 2016. We’ve heard that this is one of the best and most spectacular trails in the world so we HAD to do it. We had no idea how the hike was like until we reached Scout Lookout. We looked up and saw this narrow spine-like rock with cliffs on both sides standing more than 1200ft above the ground. We looked at each other wondering if we should take the risk or not – What is life without a little risk?. This is where it gets dangerous, the remaining 0.5 miles is a trail with just a few feet wide with thousand foot drop-offs on both sides that requires the use of chains to safely cross the trail until the Angels Landing lookout. There were some sections on the trail that were sketchy, and made us want to turn around, but we kept on going slowly, with a lot of caution and holding on to the chains. Once we reached the top, we were rewarded with stunning viewpoints of the canyon.

If you are visiting Zion National Park this is a MUST do hike. There are some sections that might test your nerves but the pay-off at the end of the trail was definitely worth it!!!. You will feel like a champ once you reach the top, and the view is totally worth it! However, we do not recommend this hike for those afraid of heights.
