Eric and Veronika of Dare to Hygge (pronounced HOO-gah) have been together for about 3 years now. They love adventure, visiting the US National Parks and traveling to new cities and getting to know the culture and people. Eric is from Cartagena, Colombia and Vero is from Valencia, Venezuela. They have both lived in South Florida for some time now and love to call it their home. They have a dog together and one day, he too will join them on their adventures!
We just love your adventures from your account, Dare to Hygge. What inspired you to share your adventures? What are your goals by telling your stories and sharing your photographs?
Hygge is a Nordic term for coziness and enjoying life’s pleasantries. We fell in love with Nordic living and their approach to life and have put it to our own practice. Hygge for us is enjoying the outdoors, travel, adventure, design, architecture and also family. We like to share our style in living and hope to inspire people to live the same way and also discover new areas.
Where do you currently located? What are some of your favorite local spots for adventure?
We live in Miami Florida. Currently for adventure we like to go to the beach, Everglades kayaking and paddling, weekend getaways to the Florida keys and go to the Florida springs.
What are some of your favorite adventure spots from your travels?
We Love Germany and its many castles. We also love all of the national parks from Utah and California. Yosemite and Zion are our favorites, for now.
How did you get into outdoor adventure? What is it about outdoors and travel the sparks your passion for life?
There is nothing out there like nature’s beauty so this sparked our interest in travel, and being adrenaline junkies also means seeking out new adventures constantly.
What are some of your favorite outdoor recreation activities?
We love hiking the most, trying new trails and getting to the top. Recently we started picking up canyoneering on our travels; we are still learning but it is one of the activities we look forward to the most. We also like to get in the water and do some snorkeling, paddling and kayaking. All these activities we can do close at home (except the canyoneering, which makes it so memorable when we do).
What are some of the most memorable stories from your adventures?
Our most memorable one so far was in 2016 when we did our first canyoneering trip alone; this was in the Keyhole slot canyon. This was a mix of awe, adrenaline and fear all in one. After 3-4 hours in the canyon we finished and were so happy to have completed it.
What quote do you try to live your life by?
“Dare to hygge!” Try and enjoy life and the simple things it brings.
Set a goal on what you want to accomplish and little by little approach that goal. Don’t life pass you by without doing what makes you happy. Also remember to enjoy life and the simple things in it as well.
